About Family Room
About Family Room
Family Room’s mission is to love, encourage and support families hat foster and the children in their care.
Often, children come into care without anything but the clothes on their backs. Family Room is a space that not only gives them things they need, but also a space to learn and know that they are loved, valued, and important.
We provide families that foster and the children in their care with resources they need, such as: beds, clothes, toys, strollers, cribs, blankets, etc. These resources are always provided at no cost to families that foster.
Family Room Impact Stories
A 3-month-old and 13-year-old came into foster care to a home that had only fostered older children and teens before. Both the baby and teen came with nothing but the clothes on their back. They needed almost everything. Family Room provided a crib and mattress, linens, car seat, stroller, baby items such as a bathtub, towels, blankets, diapers, wipes, formula, and more for the baby. Family Room was able to provide what the teen needed, including clothes, hygiene products, shoes, and groceries.
A single woman who works a full-time job agreed to care for a sibling group of 8 kids that she knew, but was not related to. All 8 kids were coming into care at the same time and would have been separated into several foster homes if this woman did not agree to take them all. The woman only had 1 twin bed in her home. The kids' ages range from 8 to 17. Family Room was able to provide 3 sets of bunk beds, a single twin bed, 7 mattresses, linens for all 8 kids beds, 3 dressers, clothes, shoes, hygiene products, school supplies, toys, books, backpacks, groceries and household products, and more for all the children and teens.
